Please help us rebuild Dargala High School, Rehara, Poonch, Azad Jammu Kashmir
About
Please help us rebuild a school in Kashmir. Over 200 children's future is at risk in a remote village in Azad Jammu Kashmir. Their school has no shelter, no doors or windows, and no proper desks and chairs or access to water and electricity. The Dargala High School, Rehara, Poonch, Azad Jammu Kashmir, was destroyed in the 2005 Kashmir Earthquake. The Government's broken promises, ill-planning and failure on all sides have left the school children eager to learn in a building which is not fit for its purpose. Please donate generously to rebuild the Dargala School and help the children to learn in a safe place. £10 can help to buy 100 Bricks £20 can help to buy one desk and chair £50 can help to buy five bags of cement £100 can help to buy 20 Roof sheets Background The Dargala High School, Rehara, Poonch, Azad Jammu Kashmir, was destroyed in the 2005 Kashmir Earthquake. In 2006, a Pakistani construction firm owned by a powerful politician and former member of the Senate of Pakistan was awarded a contract to rebuild this school. The construction firm left the building work unfinished but got paid 80% of the total budget for less than 50% work. The AJK government took the matter to Sind High Court to reclaim the money or get the contractor to complete the job. It has now been 16 years with no progress. Appeals to the concerned officials, the Prime Minister Pakistan, the Prime Minister of AJK, and the Education Department all met with no success. They all claim that there are no funds available. The Parents and Teachers Association of Dargala High School, Poonch, Kashmir, has no other option left. They are appealing to the generosity of humankind to help them rebuild this school to save the future of over 200 students, many of whom are orphans or from low-income families.
