Throughout the prisons in Ethiopia we have seen a large number of prisoners responding to Chaplains who have been a constant Christian presence. These men and women are both preaching the good news and encouraging it to be lived out in the community.
There is a desire for many in the community to gather together in worship, prayer and bible study. There is a need for pastoral care and leadership.
There is a strong team of over 70 chaplains, run by Justice for All – Prison Fellowship Ethiopia, working across the country. They provide a wide range of holistic Christian ministries among the men, women and children in prison. They help support many of the other practical projects that help improve the physical conditions in the prisons.
Most of these chaplains are supported by sponsorship through Greenstones’ Friends of Prison Fellowship Ethiopia (FPFE-UK), alongside contributions from local churches in Ethiopia.
Currently we have a shortfall in our chaplaincy sponsorship of around £500 a month. A Chaplain can be sponsored from as little as £30 a month, but one-off contributions are also welcome. Please contact Cal@greenstones.org.uk if you would like to set up an ongoing sponsorship.
