Historia

Equation prevents domestic abuse and reduces the harm it causes, working primarily in Nottinghamshire. Currently, 1 in 4 women experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. Equation tackles the underlying causes of abuse and empowers people experiencing abuse in our local community.

• Our healthy relationship projects challenge unhealthy attitudes and damaging behaviours that can lead to abuse. These age-appropriate projects in primary and secondary school provide young people a framework within which they can have healthy relationships, are informed about abuse and empowered to disclose abuse.

• Our professional training allows community workers to recognise abuse and respond appropriately. The training may reach a youth worker, able to support a young person in disclosing abuse, or a support worker at a homeless shelter, able to recognise the warning signs of abuse.

• Our domestic violence information cards reach people experiencing abuse with details of support services. Every 40 minutes, the Nottinghamshire Women's Aid helpline receives a call from a woman in need of support.
