DAST was established in March 2002 as a East Midlands based response to the growing problem of asbestos related illnesses among workers. The overall aims of the registered charity are to: - Offer a means of mutual support among sufferers and their families through networking opportunities. - Raise awareness of asbestos related diseases and highlight the dangers of exposure to asbestos. - Offer relief to sufferers and their families in the form of financial advice that is instigating civil claims for compensation through referral to a panel of solicitors; and advising/assisting in the claim of welfare entitlements such as Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit.
