Hi everyone!
When I last had my hair cut 6 months ago, I requested that the stylist chopped off a bit more than usual. Once it was done and my locks were scattered on the floor, it struck me that such long hair could probably find a better use than ending up in a bin… I remembered having heard someone talk about how, provided that it’s done in a certain way, hair can be donated in order to help make wigs for people suffering from cancer. It struck a chord in me, and I promised myself to do something useful the next time I would enjoy the luxury of getting my hair cut.
I did my bit of research, and found out that some organisations accept donations starting from 7 inches/17 cm (clean and dry; good condition; in braids or pony-tails tied at both ends).
And so now, the moment has finally come! I have booked an appointment for in a few weeks time. For the first time in 10 years, I'll go (well) above the shoulder: I'll have about 10 inches/25 cm of my hair cut!
I chose to donate it the Little Princess Trust which supply wigs, free of charge, to kids who lost part or all of their hair due to cancer treatment. It takes 5 to 6 donations to complete a single wig! On top of this, I decided to raise some funds to make this occasion as fruitful as possible for the Little Princess Trust.
Some serious reasons to give:
- great conversation starter on your next Tinder date,
- potentially seeing me looking ridiculous,
- putting a smile on a child’s face
Long story short: please feel free to DONATE any amount you like, even the smallest contributions will be deeply appreciated!
Givey.com will charge the donor a 5% transaction fee so that the charity don’t have to assume that cost (that's only £0.50 for a £10 donation!). In addition, if you are a UK tax payer please do tick the box and take a minute to fill in the Gift Aid form after you've donated! It will entitle the charity to claim another whopping 25p for every £1 you give. It won’t cost you any extra.
Thank you so much!!
