I'm glad I live in a relatively tolerant country but I don't take it for granted and I stand with those who suffer, whoever they are and wherever they live. There has been a continuous Christian community in Iraq for almost 2, 000. Many ancient churches there predate Islam by several centuries. For a long time Christians have co-existed peacefully with their Sunni and Shia neighbours. But now they are increasingly marginalised and discriminated against by extremists, being driven from their homes and facing terrible persecution. Open Doors supports them.
