At Bevern View we aim to put a smile on everyone's face. The Bevern Trust's Home, Bevern View, is a purpose built bungalow for nine young adults with profound learning disabilities and it has two extra beds dedicated to much needed respite. The home is situated in the heart of the Sussex countryside in the small village of Barcombe, with easy access to the historic town of Lewes and to the City of Brighton & Hove and Eastbourne. Residents have all come from within a 20 mile radius with the closest being from Barcombe itself. Families have a vital role supporting their relatives and are free to visit the home whenever they want, although we do stress it is wise to phone us first as their relative could well be out getting more from life!
To run a home for 11 profoundly disabled adults and offer them a fulfilling life, where activity and education connected to compassionate 'person centred' care is paramount, costs costs around 100,000 a month.
Our aim is to offer the highest standards of care and use this model to fund and build more homes where people with profound disabilities can be loved, cared for and offered educational, fulfilling and fun activity.
If we can get a 500 people to offer 10 pounds a month every month, this would enable people like Jonathan pictured to continue with his hydro physiotherapy which helps him not just live more comfortable but also smile more often. That smile means a lot to us and everything to him.
Our commitment to profoundly disabled adults and young adults means we see them not through their problems, health needs or in terms of their disabilities but as a person of their potential and possibility. We see Bevern View not just as 'a home' but as a home for the people we care for. We believe that the people we care for should have access to the best quality compassionate care, personal development and live a life that puts a smile on their face and leaves them with a sense of fulfilment. Every day our activities, communications, housekeeping, clinical, care-support and managerial teams work to ensure we can put a smile on someones face. We would like to do more, to offer more and we know a smile can change lives,
just 10 per month could help.
