During the Easter holidays I am going to walk the Yorkshire 3 Peaks for the Woodland Trust, which does exceptional work to protect, restore and expand the unique woodland habitats of the United Kingdom.
The walk is around the length of a marathon and total ascents are almost 4 times the height of Ben Nevis.
I completed this walk in 2012 without sponsorship in under the official target time of 12 hours. This year I intend to better this time, whilst being at the distinct disadvantage of having done no exercise for the last 3 months due to a spate of ill health and an operation. I've therefore got a month to get as fit as possible in the hope that my dodgy knees will survive the walk. :D
NB: I am completing this challenge an "unofficial date" (rather than on an organised walk) and solo, so this is going to involve a reasonable amount of map-reading and carrying my own gear, etc.!!
