In June 2022 I am going to take part in The Great North 5K Swim around lake Windermere to raise money for Choices. Due to my own experience with childhood sexual abuse, Choices is a charity very close to my heart. They are a small local organisation that provide counselling for anyone who has been affected by childhood sexual abuse, as well as their partners and families. By the age of 16, 15% of girls and 5% of boys have experienced sexual abuse, and without the support provided by organisations such as Choices these individuals can be left extremely vulnerable throughout their childhood and into adulthood. Choices are part of the umbrella organisation The Survivors Trust who offer support for anyone who has experienced sexual assault or abuse ,regardless of age or gender.
