About
Support the Speaker’s Office runners to raise £10K for Zero Suicide Alliance.

Natalie Lewis-Hoyle, Andrew Swindley and Paul Bailey were much-loved members of their families. But despite meaning the world to their mums, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents, friends and work colleagues – all three took their lives.

No-one knows what went through their minds in those final moments before they decided life was not worth living.

What we do know is that in the UK suicide claims the lives of 125 people each week – and is the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45. Those left behind feel devastated, numb, in disbelief, guilty, and grief stricken.

While we can never make the situation better, we – a group of House colleagues - are coming together to do something positive, as those affected range from House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle and his wife Lady Catherine Hoyle (nee Swindley) to carpenter John Bailey.

We are running the ASICS London 10K as "Hoyle Harriers" to raise £10,000 for the Zero Suicide Alliance, part of the Mersey Care Foundation Trust, in the hope that this will help even one person think twice about ending it all – but also to challenge the stigma that prevents people from talking about suicide.

The runners, who work in the House of Commons, include joiners, secretaries, media advisors and project managers, aged between 22 and 57. Our fitness levels vary, from marathon runner to weekly jogger, down to couch potato, who finds climbing the stairs an effort.

But, we would love you to support us by making a donation, or by cheering us on as we run through London on 10 July.

Sir Lindsay said: ‘I am so proud of my team for trying to turn something so devastating to me and so many other families into something good.

‘I for one will be cheering them on, thinking about my darling, Natalie, and hoping their efforts will go at least some way towards preventing another tragic loss of life.’
