I am very excited to be spending 6 months of my gap year in Brazil with Tearfund! We will be working with a partner organisation called Fepas who work with some of the most vulnerable people - those caught up in prostitution, human trafficking, and poverty. They aim to transform the lives of individuals, to bring about justice and restoration in entire communities. Whilst these issues can seem huge and overwhelming, with a person being trafficked somewhere in the world every 30 seconds, this is an opportunity to experience the reality faced by so many of our global neighbours. It will enable me to serve in a practical way, by providing child care for women doing vocational training to help them get back on their feet, alongside teaching English and working in the local church. But I am most looking forward to the opportunity to build relationships with the people we will meet, to embrace Tearfund's vision of following Jesus where the need is greatest, in order to encounter Him there in the people we meet.
