This summer, on the 11th of July, as 1 of 30 selected people from 4 DTUS units, I will be travelling to Kenya, where I will be volunteering for 2 weeks building a dormitory for a disabled volleyball team (with the hopes of building an ablutions block and classroom too!) After this we will be personally challenging ourselves for a week, climbing Mt Kenya, rock climbing and mountain biking.
However, this is not our only challenge! Before we travel we have a target of fundraising a minimum of 500 per person to give to two charities; the Nakuru Children's Project and the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
These are two extremely worthwhile causes: The first being a project set up which provides food and education to primary school children so that they stand a chance of a better start in life and get the nutrition they need for a day in school, whilst the latter is a conservation project that works closely with the Kenyan government to conserve wildlife, provide animal sanctuary and generate income through wildlife tourism and complementary enterprises for re-investment in conservation and community development. The two charities work hand in hand to support their local communities so are equally deserving of your support and help make a real difference to children in Kenya.
This page will complement the further planned group fundraising activities in our local communities and will support the purchase of building materials for our proposed project in Kenya. Monies donated through this page will go to the Nakuru Children's Project.
Should we exceed our fundrasing targets then any surplus funds will be divided equally between the two charities
Please donate as much as you can and help a great cause!
Thank you
Jordan
