Story
We are The Play House, a theatre in education company that has been inspiring and engaging with up to 15,000 children annually for 34 years across schools in Birmingham. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic The Play House’s work has been significantly impacted and we have seen a considerable reduction in our ability to deliver our schools touring programme and secure funding for new projects.
To support our fundraising efforts we are holding a ‘Storytelling Fundraising Bike Challenge’. All the money raised will go towards the delivery of The Play House’s programmes in schools across Birmingham and will help The Play House to engage children for another 34 years.
The Play House’s Teacher/Actor, Malcolm Jennings, will be cycling along part of the number 11 bus route over a 3 day period, during the week of 16th November 2020. Why the number 11 bus route we hear you ask? The Play House delivers to schools all around the city originally touring schools 34 years ago by hand barrow, a cargo bike seemed like the next best thing. During the cycle route will be stopping off at schools to perform a safe, socially distanced storytelling piece for the children. Malcolm will arrive on his magical storytelling bike and the children can choose from a number of objects, Malcolm will create a unique story based on the children’s choices.
