About
When Megan, from Hear Their Roar, contacted me to ask whether I would be interested in joining the team for their upcoming trip to Kenya I experienced a range of emotions, but mostly excitement and pride. Those that know me, know that for many years, I have been passionate about supporting vulnerable children and young people and so I am honoured to be involved with Hear Their Roar and to be supporting those who have suffered abuse and trauma, playing a key part in their healing process. Hear Their Roar supports children and young people that have been through unimaginable trauma - some are in gangs, or on drugs, many are being sexually exploited and all are experiencing domestic violence. On 30th April, 2019, a small team of us will be heading to Nairobi for two weeks, working with AMREF at the Dagoretti Child Protection and Development Centre and with the Seedsowing Network at the Mahali Pa Watoto school for destitute children. We will be focusing on emotional well-being and designing projects that enable the renewal of identity and restoration of hope. Last year’s projects were a huge success, hence why Megan has been invited to bring a team back this year. As volunteers, this is a self-funded trip. I believe in the cause enough to fully fund this myself, but any support to soften the blow would be amazing! Thanks, Steph x
