About
On June 5th, 2022, at just 15 months old, little Jack, my beautiful grandson was diagnosed with an Ependymoma brain tumour. Jack, who loved the outdoors, dinosaurs and his family, under went a 12-hour surgery that impacted his ability to walk, talk and swallow. He spent 10 days in ICU and 10 weeks in the neuro ward for intensive rehabilitation. When Jack began chemotherapy, we were introduced to the Telford children’s oncology department and the Harry Johnson Trust. This charity provide crucial financial support for families and whatever individual children need to make things just a little bit easier for them during treatment. They also stepped in to help with Jack's rehabilitation when the NHS couldn't provide the necessary therapy due to a lack of funding. The trust also fund the Beads of Courage programme at The Princess Royal Hospital. With all this in mind, myself and my bestie Jane, decided that we needed to take some positive action to raise money for such a wonderful charity that Tom and Christina (Jack’s mummy and daddy) have been able to turn to for help and support. With a fear of heights, skydiving is the one thing that terrifies us both – so on August 17th that's what we will be doing! Jack has faced immense challenges over the past two years, but he remains full of life and love. One year since finishing treatment, he continues to show incredible strength. He is very excited to watch his nanny jump out of a plane along with her daft mate! The Harry Johnson Trust are looking at helping fund one of Jacks next big challenges which is accessing the Feed Clinic. This will hopefully start Jack on the pathway to be able to eat normally again. It would be so wonderful for Jack to be able to sit round a table with his family again, enjoying food like he used to. We will be sure to post pictures from the jump and updates along the next four weeks! Thank you for your support - it will make it all worth it ...
