I am running the 35th London Marathon (my first) on 26th April 2015 to prove to myself that I can do it (I think I can!) and to try and raise some money at the same time for some worthy causes here at the hospital where I work (University Hospital Southampton). I may not be fast, but I'm damn sure I'm going to finish it!
I have clocked up 397 miles so far in my training plan and the final 26.2 miles looms on 26th April. I really hope you can support me - even if it's just a small amount. Thank you if you can.
I am raising money for Countess Mountbatten Hospice who use their charitable funds to enhance end of life care for all patients in their care. I have worked closely with the service recently and the quality of service and dedication is hard to beat. I hope that I can make a contribution to the work they do, so that patients continue to receive a positive, affirming experience through their end of life care no matter how far along that journey they are.
Secondly, I am raising money for SugarFall, the diabetic charity within UHS. Diabetes is a growing concern in the UK and the team work hard to educate and manage patients to maximise their health whilst they live with this condition. With worst case scenarios of amputation and blindness, good management of diabetes is a valuable cause.
NB: Givey (unlike JustGiving and other fundraising sites) give 100% of monies raised to the charity. There is no fee for the charities to join and all donated money + all GiftAid Money goes directly to the charity.
