I will be undertaking the Three Peaks Challenge on 7th June to raise money for an Eco Village Project in Tanzania. The Three Peaks Challenge involves scaling the three highest peaks in the UK in just 24 hours. Thats Ben Nevis (Scotland), Scafells Pike (Lake District) and Snowdon (Wales) with the journies between in just 24 hours a total climbing distance of 42km and vertical distance of 3000 vertical metres. So what is the Tanzania Eco Village? It is a fantastic, exciting and innovative 3 year building project to support 160 orphans and vulnerable children, create jobs and livelihoods for communities and establish a legacy of sustainability and development. By developing the local area including the building of a farm and developing jobs and income generation projects, the project aims to sustain this local community so that they become independent. Set in 3 acres of lush green surroundings just outside the capital Dar es Salam, the Eco Village when completed will feature 16 homes for 160 vulnerable children, a sports ground, a playground, an Eco Mosque, a community centre, a library, a training centre and permaculture farm.
