Robert Watson is raising £1,000 for Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation
About
Yes, its that time of year again when a group of intrepid cyclists, of which I'm one, torture our bodies and minds in the hope you will feel able to support us in raising funds for good causes. This year, I am using Givey because it enables me to fund raise for the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation for the direct benefit of my colleague Claire Booth, her daughter Hollie and their family. Claire and Hollie were unfortunate victims of the Manchester Arena terror attack on 22 May 2017. Not only have Claire and Hollie suffered significant life changing injuries, but Claire's sister Kelly was also tragically killed in the attack. In response to significant demand to Irwin Mitchell for a way for people to provide their help and support to Claire, Hollie and their family in what will be a long and difficult road to recovery and rebuilding their lives, the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation took the decision to accept fundraising specifically for them. Your donation will therefore directly help a severely injured young lady and her mother as well as their family, to recover from an horrific ordeal and hopefully piece their lives back to together. Now, onto the challenge. Each year we try to up the ante and do something more difficult as a thank you for your continued support and to ensure that you get VFM! So, on 12 June 2017 I aim to become a member of the Club des Cingles du Mont Ventoux, which roughly translates as the Mont Ventoux Madman Club! Mont Ventoux is an ascent which regularly features in the Tour de France, peaks at 1912m and is also known as the Giant of Provence. There are 3 different tarmac ascents of the mountain, the Club des Cingles is for those who complete all 3 different ascents in 1 day. The result is a ride of 135km ascending a total of 4381m, or nearly 14500 feet. For those who have supported my previous endeavours, this is much, much more climbing than we've ever done before! So I hope feel able to support and thank you for your donation. Rob
