THANKYOU EVERYONE WHO SUPORTED US. WE NOW HAVE A BEAUTIFUL NEW BUS! ALL YOUR HELP PLUS A SPONSOR OR TWO MADE THIS HAPPEN!
PLEASE HELP SUPPORT US IN FUNDING A NEW WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE SCHOOL MINIBUS!!
Robert Le Kyng is an exceptional school, providing facilities and education for up to ten physically disabled children in a mainstream setting. Just as it should be, everyone all mixed in together.
We are appealing for donations to provide a brand new minibus capable of carrying all ten of the disabled pupils at Robert Le Kyng Primary School. We currently make do with a 15-year-old Ford Transit that is becoming increasingly unreliable, cannot go up hills or make long journeys and can only carry half of the children and their wheelchairs at one time.
The bus is used for activities such as trips to the hydrotherapy pool, sporting events designed for physically impaired children and a variety of excursions. It also allows the children to join their classmates on the regular school trips.
Having a minibus is vital for the disabled kids. Without it they could not leave the school premises as a group or without their parents providing transport. Each week they go to the hydrotherapy pool, which for most of them, is the only independent movement they are able to achieve. The warm water and exercise gives them relief from painful conditions and helps them recover from any surgeries they may have had. They really love it. But the bus can only take half of them one week and the other half the next week.
If the bus were to give out , as it is eventually bound to, it will have a drastic impact on the lives and activities of the schools disabled pupils. Longer journeys such as trips to the seaside or wildlife park are already becoming out of the question because the minibus isn't reliable enough.
This is a fantastic cause and will support the well-being of disabled children at the school for many years. These children deserve the best and this bus allows them to be included and have some wonderful experiences that without it, they just couldn't achieve together!
