Hugh,John, Martha and Martha's Dad Peter will be taking part in Pedal for Scotland on the 7th September to raise funds for Glasgow Council on Alcohol. They'll be cycling a gruelling 47 miles from Glasgow to Edinburgh and hope to raise 300 to support GCA's vital work with individuals, families and communities to reduce the harm of alcohol misuse across Glasgow.
Martha said "I started cycling to work in May this year after getting my bike through the Cycle to Work scheme. I love seeing the city from a bike, you take so much more in, and there is something lovely about using your own steam to get to work.My dad has always loved cycling, so when I heard about Pedal for Scotland I thought it would be the perfect thing for us to do together with Team GCA.47 miles is going to be a massive challenge, but I know I can do it.The training starts now!"
Hugh added "GCA have given me much assistance over the years,so I decided to raise some money doing something I enjoy and try to raise as much as possible for this worthy cause."
"From my first contact with GCA, as a client, I was helped greatly by the counsellors, and as a volunteer I was given work experience and responsibility by GCA staff. Then, as an employee I was given a livelihood, so it's not difficult to see why I want to give something back. I will Pedal For GCA for Scotland......"
