About
Hello ! We are walking a 126.5km section of the Pennine Way between the 28th of July and the 3rd of August and thought we'd use it as an opportunity to raise some money for Pafras, a community based charity that supports destitute asylum seekers in and around Leeds. We will be starting our walk at Great Dun Fell, hiking up through the Pennines and Northumberland National Park across the Scottish border to Kirk Yetholm, carrying our supplies and gear for the full 6 days. The route is one of the most challenging national trail walks in the UK and will be a real test for two enthusiastic novices. Pafras - Pafras has been working with refugees and asylum seekers in Leeds since 2002. They provide support for asylum seekers who are destitute or at risk of destitution, who have no access to housing or benefits and are not allowed to work. They offer emergency crisis intervention (food parcels, vouchers and emergency accommodation), independent OISC-regulated immigration advice as well as casework and integrated mental health support. Pafras requires urgent financial donations to support the invaluable work they are doing. With the cost of living rising, food banks becoming increasingly stretched, and resources set up to support people in need being at crisis point, now more than ever Pafras requires any donation people can offer. https://pafras.org.uk/ We both get a lot out of being outdoors and are really excited about the challenge of this walk and we saw it as a great opportunity to raise funds for a cause we really believe in.
