Thank you for taking the time to visit our fundraising page, we are Jamie and Lucy Wood and we are running the Forest of Dean half marathon on 2nd April 2023 in memory of our daughter Penelope Maeve Wood to raise funds for Footsteps Counselling and Care in Gloucester. Footsteps Counselling & Care is a charitable organisation offering compassionate counselling and care for anyone in the Gloucestershire area affected by pregnancy-related issues, the loss of a baby for any reason, traumatic birth, fertility problems and pregnancy-related mental health issues. Our vision is that anyone affected by fertility or pregnancy-related issues, traumatic birth or baby loss can access compassionate personalised support on the journey of coping with their traumatic experiences. We can provide dedicated one to one or couples counselling support to anyone in Gloucestershire struggling with pregnancy-related issues or loss. We do not charge for our counselling service. Those that know us will know that our beautiful daughter Penelope was born sleeping on 15th May 2021. Our bereavement midwife Nicky, signposted us to footsteps counselling and care. The level of care and compassion that we received in a world that felt like it was crumbling beneath us was immeasurable. This service is provided voluntarily and I cannot stress enough how needed and in demand these services are, which is why we feel so strongly about giving back to this wonderful charity. Shout out to our counsellor Catherine who is just absolutely beautiful, we will forever be grateful for her dedication in helping us navigate this journey.
