abcdefg hijklmnop is raising £5,000 for NewDay United
About
Hello and welcome to my fundraising page. I’m giving up booze for a year to raise funds for two small educational organisations in South Africa: Izandla Zethemba in Cape Town and GAP in East London (a town in S.Africa). Both identify and train young people for further education or employment. The organisations are partners of NewDay United, a charity of which I’m a trustee. NewDay provides resources, audit and support for such small grassroots organisations. South Africa has long held a special place in my heart. What’s happening there at present is particularly troubling, as reflected in the tumbling value of the currency. We can’t fix all the problems but we can help to unleash hope by equipping the next generation with the values and skills they need to make a positive change. I’m incredibly grateful for your support because the naysayers have been out in force, “How will James cope on his 40th with a sober = boring wife?”, “people will give money anyway, you don’t need to do this” and “but you love your red wine”, were all common laments to kibosh this plan. Please prove them wrong and give generously. £1 = R23 at the moment, so your money goes a long way. I’ll keep you updated with pictures of me looking happy, holding aloft a ‘mocktail’ and much more importantly, with information about the impact of your donation. I can assure you that with each passing day, the task gets no easier. The call for a glass of wine continues to echo in my ears and I’m very much looking forward to a bucket full on New Year’s Eve (12.0001am)! Thank you, Jenny x
