I'm lacing up my trainers again to run the Cardiff Half Marathon on the 2nd of October. This time I'm running for a charity that is very close to my heart.
Heads Above The Waves is a not-for-profit organisation that raises awareness of depression and self-harm in young people. They promote positive, creative ways of dealing with the bad days. Self harm affects 1 in 12 people and like all mental health issues it's incredibly difficult to talk about.
Heads Above The Waves spread their message by attending schools and hosting workshops. These workshops introduce creative coping techniques as an alternative to self-harm. Aimed at students in years 7-11, the set of 4 workshops introduce the concept of positive alternatives to self-harm, encourage honest and open conversation, and plant the seeds for self-help.
The workshops cost £500 to run and every penny of your donation will go directly to Heads Above The Waves and support the vital work they do.
