My eldest daughter has had the “wonderful” idea of entering herself and her less than sprightly dad for the Leeds Half Marathon which takes place on May 12th. Unfortunately, because I couldn’t run away fast enough I now seem to be committed to doing one of the hilliest road races in the area. However I’m really pleased that this has now turned into a family affair with Lawrence and Flora joining Jess and me to run the race too. If trying to keep up with the “twenty-somethings” of my family wasn’t enough of an incentive, I thought it would be a good idea to use the occasion to support a local charity that I’m involved with.
Boroughbridge Community Care (BCC) is a small organisation that exists to provide vital transport, recreation, information and advice to support the social welfare needs of the disadvantaged in the Boroughbridge area. Without the essential work of BCC and its staff and volunteers, life would be much harder and more isolated for some folk in our community. Recent local authority cuts mean funds are scarcer than ever and whilst small charities like BCC make up nearly 95% of all charities in the UK they receive less than 10% of donations. So anything you can give will be gratefully received and make a difference.
Thank you for visiting our Givey page. When you make your donation through Givey, BCC receives 100% of the donation. Your details are safe with Givey and donating is completely secure. Whatsmore, they never share your email address with any third parties except the Charity you donate to.
