This year Im running the London Marathon for ELHAP. ELHAP is an adventure playground designed and built for children and young people with disabilities.
My good friend Robin (Reuben) Graham and his brother Douglas spent many days there getting muddy, playing and having fun as children. Douglas had spina bifida and was mainly confined to a wheelchair. Thankfully ELHAP provided a safe, secure and stimulating environment where he could make his own choices and learn through self-expression, free from constraints that are necessary in other settings.
They provide a soft play room, arts and crafts and a wide variety of outdoor activities for children. They were lucky enough to be able to get support from the local Territorial Army group a few years ago, who built a huge, wooden climbing frame with ramps for wheelchair users, so that everyone could enjoy the full benefit of this wonderful facility.
ELHAP offer play and holiday schemes for children and young people to let off steam as well as provide respite for families. Its a small charity and relies on fundraising as well as volunteers so anything you can give will be received with many thanks!
