Dear Friend
On 28th June, Veterans' Weekend, I will be taking part in the Coast 2 Coast bike ride from The Lakes across to Newcastle - circa 120 miles.
Some of you may know that I used to really enjoy cycling, but I have hardly done anything for the past 15 years. Added to that I am recovering from a knee operation which means I'll probably be one of the slowest in the group. But I don't mind, because I'll have the honour of cycling alongside a group of men and women who having served in our armed forces are committed to raising money for Veterans at Ease, a great charity very close to my heart.
All the money donated will help the charity to support serving and ex-serving personnel overcome the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder, a terrible illness that results in flashbacks, paranoia, depression, anger and in many cases a desire to commit suicide, as a way of stopping the horrors.
Did you know that for just 5 you can pay for a therapist's travel costs to visit a beneficiary in their own home if they are too ill to attend one of the charity's two offices?
I would be very grateful if you would consider supporting me.
Thanks
Cx
