A team of Sixth Form students from Giles Academy are hurriedly preparing for an enormous test of their fitness, endurance and determination. They aim to complete a Coast to Coast ride, not on bikes as many have done already, but by riding non-stop on our race winning pedal car. The Academy is united in supporting this gruelling ride as a celebration for Assistant Head, Ben Vidler, who sadly is seriously ill with Cancer. As an avid supporter of outdoor education, one of his passions has always been to complete a Coast to Coast bike ride, and by fundraising for his nominated charity, Macmillan the pupils and staff are able to show respect for an inspirational teacher. Starting Wednesday October 1st at Flint on the north coast of Wales, the team will tackle the arduous terrain non-stop, to finish at Skegness 48 hours later on the 3rd. Over 230 miles, it is substantially longer than the usual route, allowing the exhausted team to pass by Bens house and make a pit stop at Giles Academy en route to the coast.
