Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I used to choose to miss the bus/train rather than run to catch it, but thanks to encouragement from friends and family I've learnt to run and enjoy it. In 2012 my Dad and sister Ana persuaded me to join them in the Great North Run, which they had both completed before. The training and the event were tough, but I was so delighted with the sense of achievement I felt and the amazing generosity of all those who sponsored me. Having taken a year off I'm back for a second go at it this year, hoping to beat my previous achievement on fundraising as well as finish time. Alzheimers Research UK is the UKs leading dementia research charity specialising in finding preventions, causes, treatments and a cure for dementia. Ruth ***************************************** Bupa Great North Run The Bupa Great North Run is the world's largest and most popular half marathon, with 56,000 runners of all abilities from all nations tackling the 13.1 mile course, including some of the worlds greatest distance runners. Starting in Newcastle, with a fly past by the Red Arrows, the course takes in the iconic Tyne Bridge and Newcastle Gateshead Quayside, finishing on the North East coast at South Shields.
