I am very excited to be taking part in this fundraising event for The Door Youth Project. The Door is an amazing charity supporting young adults and their families with any issues they may be facing, such as....bullying, struggles at school, self-esteem and confidence problems, home-life concerns, abuse and many more .The team at The Door offer a safe place for young adults and their families to turn to when things might get to much and they need help with what's going on on for them. They are a wonderful and varied team of people who are kind, caring, compassionate and hugely respectful of anyone who walks through their doors. Unfortunately access to such amazing support wasn't as easily available in my local area when I was growing up and I struggled hugely with my mental health and the ability of ask for help; this lead me down a very dangerous path of self destruction and my family were left to helplessly watch without knowing where they could turn for support. I do feel if this sort of support was accessible to myself and my family, we could have hugely benefited and this could have also prevented some of the futured issues I'd faced.
