Danyelle Lloyd is raising £250 for Unlock a Life for Lockey
About
I am not a runner. As anyone who knows me will testify, I have only previously been seen running when a child is in danger - and even then only if there's no point else around to help :-) But I have decided to take on a challenge which, for me, will be quite literally an uphill struggle. On May 29th 2016, I'll be taking part in the Burnham 10K run organised by Burnham-on-Crouch Rotary Club. I'll be doing this to raise money for charity which is very close to my heart - Unlock a Life for Lockey. This organisation was created by seven year old Laughlin Whiteley. While he was undergoing treatment for AML leukaemia, he came up with the idea of sending boxes packed with craft materials and activities to other youngsters having treatment in hospital. Sadly, Laughlin passed away in October 2014 but his family and friends have vowed to continue his legacy by taking Unlock a Life for Lockey from strength to strength. Not only do they supply Laughlin's 'Unlock' boxes but they also provide a beach hut, The Happy Shack in Walton on the Naze, free of charge for the families of children with cancer to enjoy a special day out. The team is now planning to take its work one step further by launching a £30,000 fundraising appeal to buy a holiday home. This will be used by the families of children with cancer and will also become the only facility of its kind to be available to bereaved families. It's this appeal that I hope to raise money for through this 10k run. I would really appreciate any donations to help me reach my target. Thank you for your support! Danyelle x
