​Almost a year ago, we decided to join our individual efforts of providing support to refugees in our area and set up Community Welcome CIC It feels like a lifetime ago that we were rushing around collecting donations from the community and filling our cars with clothes, toiletries, nappies and many other essential items We have supported hundreds of refugees with new clothes and care packages on arrival Since those early days we have also focused our attention on supporting our new friends with mental health and fitness support. We have successfully established men's football sessions as well as fitness classes for ladies. We have joined forces with many local organisations and are on the cusp of some of our refugee friends being signed by a local football club This has been made possible by fundraising, attaining grants as well as donations in kind from our wonderful community We work tirelessly but love volunteering together and are so grateful to be able to do it as well as meet so many amazing people along the way We can also now proudly call ourselves Community Impact CAVA Volunteer Award winners 2022  Samantha, Catherine and Katherine
