In 2010 my brother Stephen and I undertook the Enduro Africa off-road motorbike challenge through South Africa's wild coast in support of 4 amazing charities, UNICEF, Sentebale The Princes' Fund for Lesotho, the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund and Touch Africa (School Aid 4 Africa in the UK www.schoolaid4africa.org).
If I'm honest, when we signed up it was more for the adventure with the charity aspect being a bonus. That all changed however when we saw first hand how the money we had raised was being used to change the lives of children living in some of poorest conditions in the world.
There really is no way to express easily in words what it feels like to see with your own eyes the way some people in that part of the world live and I was struck by something one of our guides said to prepare us - ...they are experiencing the 21st century in a different way to you or I....
Although all the charities we supported do fantastic work we were both particularly impressed with the work of Touch Africa and have been inspired to return to the wild coast for School Aid 4 Africa's epic 1500 km Ride 4 Change 2015.
Stephen and I will be personally covering all the trip costs and so the aim is simple...raise as much money as we can for this fantastic charity and hopefully come home in one piece!
