Back in 2020, my son and myself took part in the Big Sleep Out at Stoke City's bet365 Stadium.
Even then there was talk of COVID-19 - and what may or may not happen - and it was less than four weeks later that restrictions were put in place and England went into it's first of multiple lockdowns.
These lockdowns have been hard for so many people; we were only allowed out for specific reasons and I was probably not alone in looking forward to my daily allowance of outdoor activity. Imagine having to live through that and all the on/off restrictions without the security of a roof over your head; not having the luxury of being able to go back inside, be warm, and have food & drink when you want it.
To follow on from 2020, we’ll be heading back to the bet365 stadium on Friday 25 March to endure a night out on the cold concrete to do two things. Firstly to raise funds for the homeless charities across Stoke-on-Trent – namely The Macari Centre, The Lyme Trust and The Gingerbread Centre. Secondly, to bring awareness to homelessness – an issue that in the past 10 years has gotten bigger and bigger.
Times are tough for everyone, and all that I ask is you if you can donate whatever you can afford – however little it may be.
Thank you.
