At the end of a previous cycling adventure in France, Marcus Hughes-Hallett and I had agreed, in principle, that our next trip would be to cycle from the top of France to the Pyrenees and tackle one of the fearsome cols that feature in the Tour de France. In Marcus memory I will be fulfilling this plan at the beginning of September with Matt Saxton in order to raise money for the Leatherhead Youth Project, who do great work in the North Leatherhead community and in Romania, in an area where I spent time this summer. After catching the ferry across the channel we plan to cycle from Caen to Hautacam, which is a little short of the Spanish border and marks the end of the final mountain stage of this years Tour de France. Leaving on the 2nd of September, we plan to cover about 900km in 10-12 days, camping on sites and in the wild. http://tinyurl.com/leroughroute -a rough guide to the route. We would really appreciate all donations from anyone and for however much.
