I now know that we are lucky to be alive. I feel like I can breathe again. Me and my kids are safe. The refuge are helping me to build a future. I dont know what I would have done without Womens Aid. Delia, Survivor of Domestic Violence On Sunday 5th October 2014, Im taking part in the Bournemouth Half Marathon, raising money for Womens Aid - the key national charity working to end domestic violence toward women and children. Womens Aid is an organisation very close to my heart and Im running to help make a difference to the hundreds of thousands of women and children affected by domestic abuse each year. Women's Aid (www.womensaid.org.uk) work with local and national agencies influencing policy and practice; as well as running awareness and public education campaigns, including a website for children affected by domestic abuse (www.hideout.org.uk). Womens Aid offer free counselling to women affected by domestic abuse, and run the national domestic abuse hotline in conjunction with Refuge. They also run and support womens refuges nationally. I know the difference that these services make to the lives of women and their children. Thats why I quit smoking and began training because as well as raising money, I hope to raise awareness of the fantastic work Womens Aid do on a local and national level. Please help me help them by giving whatever you can. The more people that know about Womens Aid, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Mummy used to cry a lot. I had to hide upstairs. I would put my pillow around my head so I couldnt hear the shouting. Now mummy doesnt cry as much. I dont have to hide from the banging.
